Wilson, Rivers top Week 16 awards

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week for his 339 passing yards and 88 rushing yards in last Sunday night’s 35-6 win over the Arizona Cardinals.

Wilson threw for two touchdowns and ran for another. He was 20-of-31 passing, including an 80-yard touchdown to tight end Luke Willson. He had a career-long 55-yard run in the first quarter. Wilson has thrown for 3,236 yards and run for 842 yards this season.

San Diego Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers took the AFC offensive honor after leading his team back from a 21-point deficit. In the Chargers’ 38-35 overtime victory over the San Francisco 49ers. Rivers passed for 356 yards and four touchdowns. He has 3,995 yards and 31 touchdowns on the season.

Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews won the NFC defensive award. He finished with six tackles, 2.5 sacks and a pass defensed in the 20-3 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He has 5.5 sacks in the last three weeks and 10 on the season.

Cincinnati Bengals cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick took the AFC defensive honor. He had a pair of interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, in the 37-28 win over the Denver Broncos and Peyton Manning.

Atlanta Falcons punter Matt Bosher won the NFC special teams award. Four of his five punts were inside the 20-yard line in the 30-14 win over the New Orleans Saints. He did not allow a single punt return yard and averaged 44.2 yards.

Houston Texans kicker Randy Bullock took the AFC special teams honor. He connected on all six of his field-goal attempts in the 25-13 win over the Baltimore Ravens.
