The New York Jets enter Sunday’s game at the Kansas City Chiefs with the league’s 14th-ranked pass defense, and are likely to be without starting cornerback Darrin Walls, who is listed as doubtful with a calf/knee injury.

Coach Rex Ryan prefers to keep Kyle Wilson in the slot, leaving Antonio Allen, Phillip Adams, Josh Thomas and Marcus Williams as the candidates for the two outside spots.

“I think all of them will play at some point,” Ryan said when asked who will start. “We feel good about them. Guys are working hard. So we do, we feel confident in our guys and that’s why I think we might play all of them – give them a shot out there.”

Quarterback Geno Smith is questionable with a shoulder injury, but is expected to be available as Michael Vick’s backup after getting officially demoted Monday.

“I mean I hope it’s better, obviously,” Ryan said of the quarterback change. “I am not going to be surprised if we do well. (Vick) is familiar with this system. He has been in it. I think as the week has gone on, I think he has looked better, so I think he has good command of what we are doing, and maybe the timing is a little better with the receivers (as the week has gone on).”

Meanwhile, the Chiefs will regain the services of safety Eric Berry, who has been out since Week 2 with an ankle injury.

“We’ll just see how he does, see how he feels,” Chiefs head coach Andy Reid said when asked about Berry’s role Sunday, adding that he will start. “The other guys have done a nice job and Eric’s getting back into the swing of things and we’re glad he’s back and available.”

The Chiefs ruled out four players: wide receiver Donnie Avery (groin), cornerback Jamell Fleming (hamstring), linebacker Josh Martin (hamstring) and cornerback Chris Owens (knee).

Marcus Cooper is expected to start in Fleming’s place.
