What We’ll Be Saying On Monday

Find out what heavy favorites will struggle and the upsets we’ll see in our crystal ball.

In this edition of What We’ll Be Saying on Monday, we look into our trusty crystal ball and give you Monday’s headlines, today.

Notre Dame Gets KO’d

The Fighting Irish take part in college football’s game of the week as they travel down to Tallahassee to take on the defending national champion Florida State Seminoles. This is not going to be a “David” taking down “Goliath” story. Notre Dame has looked shaky against inferior competition and although the ‘Noles aren’t dominating opponents as they did last season, they are well versed in playing well in these big games. This game will be more reminiscent of the national title game from two years ago when the Irish were exposed as maybe the 10th best team in the country, not the first.

Kenny Trill Gets Shut Down In T-Town

Texas A&M and Alabama have taken part in two of the most exciting games in college football over the past two seasons. This will not be the third in as many years. Although Alabama doesn’t have the dominant offensive line as they did in recent years, they are plenty good enough on defense to shut down an A&M team that looks to be a little overrated. Look for Alabama offense to put up a 40-burger.

Mariota Jumps Back Into the Heisman Race

Marcus Mariota entered the season as the Heisman favorite and was knocked back with Oregon’s home loss to Arizona. Since then we’ve figured out that Arizona is a solid team and the race is pretty wide open. Mariota will be the first quarterback taken in the draft and his Ducks are still very much in the national title picture. Look for Marcus to have a big game against Washington.

The Jags Pulled Off The Upset Special!

The Jacksonville Jaguars are due to win a game. They have an ascending quarterback that needs just a little bit of help from his teammates and his defense. The Cleveland Browns haven’t been in a position where they have been expected to win a game in quite a while. Cleveland had an emotional win last weekend against the Steelers and this looks like the perfect trap game. Jacksonville will find a way to win.

The Giants Give Dallas All They Can Handle

Nobody feels better than the Dallas Cowboys after their huge upset victory in Seattle. The New York Giants were embarrassed on national television the same evening. Although the Cowboys are a deeper, better team, the Giants have a sense of urgency that the Cowboys can’t replicate right now. Look for the Giants to make this a close game into the fourth quarter before Tony Romo makes a play or two and finds a way to win.

49ers Ruin The Party

When Peyton Manning fell a few touchdown passes short of Brett Favre’s all-time record last week, high fives were abundant between NBC executives. Manning needs two touchdowns to tie and three to break the all-time record and he’s going to have a chance to do it against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday night. The 49ers aren’t as good as they were last season, but the offense is getting better and better. Look for Peyton Manning to break the record but lose the game, as Colin Kaepernick will be the better quarterback on this day.

In summation, we’re expecting the ‘Noles to win in a blowout, Alabama to take down Texas A & M, Marcus Mariota to have a huge game against Washington, the Jaguars to get their first victory of the season, the New York Giants to play the Cowboys close and Peyton Manning to break the all-time touchdowns record in a loss.
