The second quarter of the NFL season is officially underway, which means it’s time to really start dissecting teams and players alike. In this case, I’m ranking all of the quarterbacks for the upcoming week.

If you’re not familiar with the ranking format, I’ll be ranking quarterbacks based on their play thus far added with a heavy emphasis on their upcoming matchup. For example, Blake Bortles isn’t better than Philip Rivers, but he’s ranked higher on this list because of his play and more importantly, he has a more favorable matchup this Sunday.

With all of that being said, let’s take a look at the list:

1. Aaron Rodgers vs. Chargers – This isn’t a good time to be facing Rodgers at home. After all, he threw his first interception at home since 2012 last week.

2. Tom Brady @ Colts – At this point, you should expect for him and Rodgers to be 1-2 every week. Will Brady be No. 1 next week?

3. Carson Palmer @ Steelers – He has 13 passing touchdowns on the season, which is tied for first in the NFL.

4. Andy Dalton @ Bills – Tough matchup on the road, but the way he’s playing right now it might not even matter.

5. Marcus Mariota vs. Dolphins – Miami’s defense hasn’t lived up to the hype and with them only having one sack on the year, expect for Mariota to pick them apart.

6. Eli Manning @ Eagles – Over the past three weeks, Manning has thrown eight touchdowns.

7. Sam Bradford vs. Giants – New York ranks dead last in pass defense, which should raise the eyebrows of Chip Kelly.

8. Blake Bortles vs. Texans – He quietly has a touchdown to interception ratio of 10 to 4.

9. Joe Flacco @ 49ers – The $120 million dollar man hasn’t played up to his deal this year, but facing one of the bottom feeders in the league should help.

10. Jay Cutler @ Lions – Chicago has tons of momentum heading into this matchup and so does Cutler after his game-winning touchdown in Kansas City a week ago.

11. Peyton Manning @ Browns – Through five weeks, Manning has been a complete shell of himself to say the least, but facing the 30th ranked defense may help him get on track.

12. Philip Rivers @ Packers – Facing this vaunted defense on the road isn’t ideal, however Rivers is a master at finding a weakness and abusing it until you adjust.

13. Matthew Stafford vs. Bears – Not much has gone well for Stafford thus far, but with Calvin Johnson and Golden Tate at his disposal, he’s due to have a breakout game, right?

14. Tyrod Taylor vs. Bengals – Against Cincy’s stout defense, expect for Taylor to make plays out of the pocket if he plays.  Note: If E.J. Manuel plays, he will be ranked at the bottom of the list.

15. Cam Newton @ Seahawks – For the most part, he’s all Carolina has offensively. It may not be pretty, but he’ll get into the end zone a couple of times at least.

16. Russell Wilson vs. Panthers – His numbers won’t ‘wow’ you, but you can pretty much bank on him making the right decision.

17. Ryan Tannehill @ Titans – With an extra week to prepare, Tannehill should be a lot more sharp moving forward.

18. Andrew Luck vs. Patriots – Welcome back, Luck. Your reward is facing a Bill Belichick defense. Good luck!

19. Brian Hoyer @ Jaguars – There’s a lot of pressure on Hoyer heading into this matchup. If he can’t produce against Jacksonville, then his time in Houston may be coming to an end.

20. Josh McCown vs. Broncos – Despite the Manziel chatter, McCown has shown he’s capable of being a solid quarterback.

21. Teddy Bridgewater vs. Chiefs – The sophomore has been very quiet, but this could be exactly what the doctor order this Sunday.

22. Alex Smith @ Vikings – Passing against this team will be difficult, but perhaps he can make some plays with his legs.

23. Colin Kaepernick vs. Ravens – Although Baltimore’s defense is poor, so is Kaepernick.

24. Kirk Cousins @ Jets – Following his game deciding pick-six in Atlanta, Cousins now has to face the scary Jets secondary.

25. Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Redskins – Washington has been an up and down team, but at the same time, they’ve only allowed seven touchdown passes.

26. Michael Vick vs. Cardinals – I know everyone is hyped about Vick’s return to action, but the matchup against Arizona just doesn’t look good on paper for the veteran.
