Week 16 NFL Quarterback Rankings – Who Has The Best Matchups
Find out which quarterbacks have the best matchups for Week 16.
Surprisingly, for the the first time this season, Cam Newton is number one. Also, neither Tom Brady nor Aaron Rodgers made the top two.
The hot play of Russell Wilson just simply can’t be ignored. With that being said, let’s dive right into the quarterback rankings for Week 16.
1. Cam Newton @ Falcons – Just a couple weeks ago, Newton completed 71.4 of his passes, while tossing three touchdowns against Atlanta.
2. Russell Wilson vs. Rams – The Seahawks have won five straight and during that streak Wilson has thrown 19 touchdowns with zero interceptions.
3. Tom Brady @ Jets – With the Jets fighting for their playoff lives, Brady would love nothing more than to put an end to them.
4. Ben Roethlisberger @ Ravens – Alex Smith completed 81 percent of his passes in Baltimore last week, so I could only imagine what Big Ben is capable of.
5. Carson Palmer vs. Packers – The veteran hasn’t thrown an interception in a month.
6. Aaron Rodgers @ Cardinals – Breaking through their secondary will be a tall order, but after all, this is Aaron Rodgers.
7. Kirk Cousins @ Eagles – After tossing four touchdowns against Buffalo last week, Cousins will be licking his chops against this fragile Philly defense.
8. Derek Carr vs. Chargers – He’s struggled a bit over the past few weeks, but I think this is the week he breaks out of it.
9. Blake Bortles @ Saints – Bortles should have a field day against this putrid defense.
10. Matthew Stafford vs. 49ers – Despite the team’s up and down play, Stafford has been a steady rock for the most part.
11. Philip Rivers @ Raiders – Oakland has the 28th ranked pass defense, which bodes well for the pass happy Chargers.
12. Drew Brees vs. Jaguars – If he plays, you’d have to assume his injured foot will hinder him a bit.
13. Eli Manning @ Vikings – This is a stingy defense, but Eli has the ability to get things going against anybody.
14. Ryan Tannehill vs. Colts – He hasn’t thrown a pick in the past three weeks, but he’s only tossed two touchdowns during that time frame. Facing Indy should help.
15. Alex Smith vs. Browns – Smith should be able to see tons of short fields, considering it’ll be difficult for Manziel to muster yards against the Chiefs defense
16. Tyrod Taylor vs. Cowboys – Taylor has quietly put together a very solid year. At home, expect for him to be productive.
17. Jay Cutler @ Buccaneers – This is one of those game where Cutler could have a spectacular performance or he could just end up being disappointing. I don’t think there will be a middle ground.
18. Ryan Fitzpatrick vs. Patriots – If Fitzpatrick was playing almost any other team, he would be higher up on the list.
19. Jameis Winston vs. Bears – His accuracy has been off the past two weeks and that won’t bode well against the third rated pass defense in the NFL.
20. Sam Bradford vs. Redskins – The situation in Philly is just a complete mess to say the least. From top to bottom.
21. Matt Hasselbeck @ Dolphins – His health has been a major concern over the past few weeks and in return, Hasselbeck’s play has suffered.
22. Teddy Bridgewater vs. Giants – The numbers on the season haven’t been pretty, but if there was any week for him to breakout, it would be this week against the league’s worst pass defense. Nonetheless, I’m still skeptical if he’s capable of doing it.
23. Brock Osweiler vs. Bengals – This game is designed to be a hard-nosed, low scoring affair.
24. Blaine Gabbert @ Lions – There’s still a big learning curve for Gabbert at this point. Don’t expect any huge numbers just yet.
25. Jimmy Clausen vs. Steelers – This Steelers defense isn’t anything special, but neither is Clausen.
26. Matt Ryan vs. Panthers – He should probably be lower, but after losing to Carolina 38-0 a couple of weeks ago, it can’t get worse, right?
27. Zach Mettenberger vs. Texans – J.J. Watt and company will be itching to get after Mettenberger.
28. Case Keenum @ Seahawks – Keenum has been playing solid football, but going up against this unit on the road will be a different animal.
29. Johnny Manziel @ Chiefs –This matchup is a recipe for disaster if you’re a Cleveland fan.
30. AJ McCarron @ Broncos – After melting in Pittsburgh a week ago, this Broncos defense will be very determined against an inexperienced McCarron.
31. Brandon Weeden @ Titans – Sure, he helped lead his team to victory last week against Indy, but this defense will present a much greater problem.
32. Kellen Moore @ Bills – Moore will be making his first start, and it comes against a Rex Ryan defense. This doesn’t look promising.
