Here are Michael’s top plays for Week 13:

QUARTERBACKS

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers $7,400 – CAR@NO

Cam Newton is the second-most expensive option this week behind Tom Brady, and I like Newton’s matchup and odds of having a better game than Brady.  Rob Gronkowski seems like a long shot to play this week, which makes Brady even less attractive.  Newton is playing the New Orleans Saints, who have given up even more points to opposing quarterbacks than Brady’s opponent, the Philadelphia Eagles.  With that said, Newton is your best option if you want to spend big at quarterback this week.  This season, he has already had success against New Orleans, who let him go off for 315 passing yards, two passing touchdowns, 33 rushing yards and one rushing touchdown.  Like those numbers?  Yeah, me too.

Andy Dalton, Cincinnati Bengals  $6,400 – CIN@CLE

Andy Dalton has a great matchup against the Cleveland Browns this week, as the Browns have been giving up big games to opposing quarterbacks all year.  Dalton doesn’t turn the ball over much, and only has three games this year where he hasn’t thrown for multiple scores.  This makes Dalton a good mid-tier option, and he is a pretty safe bet not to disappoint.

Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears $5,100 – SF@CHI

Jay Cutler isn’t the quarterback we all thought he was – turnover prone and just consistently underperforming to his potential.  That’s not to say he’s having a huge year, but he’s been consistent, protecting the ball better and continuously giving his offense a chance to put up points.  Cutler is dirt cheap this week, and with a very favorable matchup against a San Francisco team that has let opposing teams walk all over them this year.  I’ll take my chances with Cutler this week, and take the money I saved at quarterback and invest it at another position.

RUNNING BACKS

Matt Forte, Chicago Bears $6,900 – SF@CHI

Out of the five priciest options at running back this week, Matt Forte is the third-most expensive but he has by far the best matchup.  Adrian Peterson is $300 less than Forte, but is facing the Seattle Seahawks. Todd Gurley is $400 more, but is facing the Arizona Cardinals.  Forte faces a San Francisco defense that will not pose a huge threat to the Bears’ attack.  I predicted Cutler to have a big game, and I think that will be because of what Forte will provide him on the ground and catching passes out of the backfield.  Forte is your best bet if you want to spend big at running back this week.

Doug Martin, Tampa Bay Buccaneers $5,900 – ATL@TB

Doug Martin has had an exceptional season, and will be hungry to beat a divisional foe at home in Week 13.  Martin exploded two weeks ago for 235 yards, and then last week saw half as many carries for 97 yards.  It’s been a reoccurring trend for Martin to get most of his work done in the first half, then see a lesser role in the second half of games.  I see Dirk Koetter utilizing Martin throughout the entire game this week, highlighting him as the true weapon he is in both the running game and screen game.  With Martin not seeing the end zone since Week Five, I expect that drought to end here in Week 13.  He’s below $6,000 this week, and Martin is capable in any given week to be the league’s No. 1 scoring option.

Spencer Ware, Kansas City Chiefs $4,900 – KC@OAK

Spencer Ware has played in place of an injured Charcandrick West the past two weeks (starting in his place last week).  Over those two weeks, Ware averaged 105 yards per game with 1.5 touchdowns.  West looks to be returning this week, but I don’t see Andy Reid passing the rock over from the hot handed Ware. If leading up to Sunday there are reports that Ware will remain heavily involved in the Chiefs’ ground attack, he is your best bet for running backs priced under $5,000.

C.J. Anderson, Denver Broncos $3,500 – DEN@SD

If you didn’t watch the Patriots vs. Broncos game last Sunday night, you missed out on Anderson’s best game of the season.  We also saw vintage Tom Brady in the snow, facing a Broncos team lead by Brock Osweiler.  Osweiler and the Broncos won in overtime, courtesy of C.J. Anderson, who had a 48-yard scamper for a touchdown.  Anderson was better than Ronnie Hillman, and ended with 137 yards rushing and a pair of scores as well as an additional 40 yards receiving.  Hillman will be the starter this week, per Gary Kubiak, but I still expect Anderson to be heavily involved in the Broncos’ attack. Anderson looks like he’s returning to form, and I think he is a sneaky good play in Week 13.  You can throw him at your flex spot for absolutely nothing, and load up across the board in other spots.  If you want to win big, you need to take risks.  Anderson is that high-risk, high-reward option, and if you like that strategy then utilize Anderson in Week 13.

WIDE RECEIVERS

Julio Jones, Atlanta Falcons $9,000 – ATL@TB

Julio Jones is the most expensive option this week at wide receiver, and that’s understandable.  Historically, he lights up the Bucs’ weak (and if you don’t believe me, look it up).  Earlier this year against Tampa Bay, he had 162 receiving yards on 12 catches along with one touchdown.  Reports coming out of Tampa say that Gerald McCoy had a minor procedure on his hand, and his status is TBD.  If Matt Ryan has extra time against an already inconsistent Bucs defense that he and Julio Jones typically have success against, it’s fair to think Jones will have another big game.

Alshon Jeffery, Chicago Bears $6,900 – SF@CHI

A recurring theme this week is having Bears players in your lineup.  Not that I’m expecting the Bears to put up 35+ points, but I do expect multiple players to have nice weeks and help you win on Draft Kings.  Alshon Jeffery has had a lot of solid performances this year, and with him being fully healthy at this point in the year and the Bears coming out of a big win on Thanksgiving against the Packers, I could see Jeffery catching his first touchdown since Week 8 and putting up good numbers.  He’s below $7,000, and a nice mid-tier option at his position.

Martavis Bryant, Pittsburgh Steelers $5,600 – IND@PIT

Martavis Bryant didn’t practice on Wednesday, but all signs point to him playing this Sunday against the Colts at home.  Bryant is explosive, and has a knack for finding the end zone.  He did it last week on an end around, with a nice dive into the end zone.  If he can find the end zone against the Seahawks, there’s a good chance he can do the same against a much weaker Colts defense.  He’s not that expensive, but one of the more explosive receivers in the game, making him a great play in Week 13.

Brandon LaFell, New England Patriots $4,800 – PHI@NE

Tom Brady has no one else to throw to but Brandon LaFell.  That may be an exaggeration, but Brady is running out of viable options at his skill positions with injuries to Julian Edelman, Rob Gronkowski and Dion Lewis.  This is a chance for LaFell to step up and it seems the receiver has solid chemistry with Brady, which could mean the journeyman from LSU has a big game.  He’s really cheap, and it’s never a bad bet to invest in Brady’s top option.

TIGHT ENDS

Greg Olsen, Carolina Panthers $6,400 – CAR@NO

No Rob Gronkowski this week, so a lot of people who usually play Gronk as the top-priced tight end will be looking elsewhere.  Olsen is the next priced option, and has one of the very best matcups for tight ends in fantasy this week.   The Saints have given up a lot of points to tight ends, and in Week 3 they let Olsen go off for 134 receiving yards and two touchdowns.  Olsen is a top option for Cam Newton this week, and it only makes sense he would be your best bet at tight end this week if you want to splurge on that position.

Julius Thomas, Jacksonville Jaguars $4,000 – JAX@TEN

Julius Thomas has a nice matchup against the Tennessee Titans, who have let tight ends put up big numbers against them this year.  With Allen Hurns likely out this week, Thomas will be asked to take on more work, which bodes well for his fantasy stock.  Only $4,000 is good value for Thomas, especially when he’s on a touchdown catching streak of two straight games, and all of the factors he has on his side in Week 13.

Scott Chandler, New England Patriots $2,500 – PHI@NE

Scott Chandler had a team-high 11 targets last week, and will see even more work with fellow tight end Rob Gronkowski out this week.  Tom Brady likes the single coverage teams use on Chandler, and he’ll likely look to exploit that.  There’s no reason to think Chandler sees a lesser amount of targets this week when Gronk isn’t an option, making him a great low-price option in Week 13.

DEFENSES

Arizona Cardinals $3,900 – ARI@STL

The quarterback situation for the Rams is ugly, and defenses are zeroing in on stopping rookie running back Todd Gurley.  Until Case Keenum can prove to defenses that they have to plan for him as well, I doubt they will be an offense capable of putting up big points.  The Cardinals sport a great D, who should play well against the Rams.

Cincinnati Bengals, $3,400 – CIN@CLE

Austin Davis is starting for the Browns, not Johnny Manziel, making this an even more amazing matchup for the Bengals.  I don’t see Davis and the Browns having a good offensive game, and think the Bengals will take the ball away and have a nice showing.

Chicago Bears, $2,600 – SF@CHI

I’ve told you many times to play offenses that are going against the Chicago Bears, but this week when the Bears face the San Francisco 49ers, I think it’s a good idea to play the Bears’ D.  San Fran is not good, and I thought it’d be a good idea to end this list with another Bears play.  Chicago is a good low price option on defense this week.
