There are plenty of interesting games as we head toward the playoff stretch.
In what was the best rivalry in the NFL over the last few years, the San Francisco 49ers head to Seattle to take on the Seahawks.
These two teams that have controlled the NFC West are now trying to stay out of the cellar.
There are more interesting morsels to be read below with a Week 11 game-by-game match-up breakdown of NFL statistics, news and notes.
St. Louis Rams vs. Baltimore Ravens
Rams: St. Louis has given up on Nick Foles after nine games and Case Keenum will replace the former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback brought in to replace Sam Bradford. The Rams really need to address the position in the draft.
Ravens: Baltimore is 1-3 at home which includes losses to the Cleveland Browns and Jacksonville Jaguars. Joe Flacco and company will aim to get their second home victory in Week 11 against the Rams.
Washington Redskins vs. Carolina Panthers
Redskins: Washington faces an unblemished Carolina team (9-0), but quietly has placed them in the mix for the NFC East division race. Quarterback Kirk Cousins is forcing the Redskins front office to reexamine their future plans, resulting from his recent form over the last several weeks. In his last three games he has thrown for 858 yards, eight touchdowns and one interception. Most importantly, Washington is 2-1 during that span.
Panthers: Carolina is 4-7 lifetime against the Redskins. However, they are winners of four out of the last five games and look like overwhelming favorites this weekend.
Denver Broncos vs. Chicago Bears
Broncos: The NFL’s No. 1 defense will be without their No. 1 quarterback Sunday in Chicago. Brock Osweiler will make his first start in the Windy City, with Peyton Manning forced to miss the game. Osweiler has 54 career pass attempts and faces a surging Chicago team.
Bears: Chicago is the winner of two straight games and is 4-2 over their last six contests. A win versus the Broncos would give them three consecutive victories (which hasn’t happened since Weeks 1-3 in 2013) and equal their entire win total (5) from last year.
Dallas Cowboys vs. Miami Dolphins
Cowboys: The last time the Cowboys lost seven straight games was in 1989 and finished 1-15. The Cowboys won their first two games, so the worst they could go is 2-14, but the recent run of bad luck should allow Dallas to be very optimistic next year. Dallas should be position relatively high in the 2016 NFL Draft. The Cowboys draft well and also has the added bonus of signing La’el Collins the former LSU offensive lineman who had a first-round grade this year but went undrafted due to suspicions of wrong doing.
Dolphins: Lamar Miller rushed for back-to-back 100-yards game from Week 6-7, but has been held in check since than rushing for 102 yards in his last three games. That is 73 yards less than his career-high 175 he had in Week 7.
Oakland Raiders vs. Detroit Lions
Raiders: Rookie receiver Amari Cooper has four touchdowns this season. He didn’t catch one last weekend, but odds on him scoring should be almost a lock if you use his past production. He has scored a touchdown in every other game this season and last week he didn’t score – So he should be finding the end zone in Week 11.
Lions: Just playing off the fun of statistics – Over the last four games the Lions are 2-2 and have a better record than 1-3 Green Bay Packers. The same team they defeated at Lambeau Stadium for the first time since 1991.
New York Jets vs. Houston Texans
Jets: Brandon Marshall had 721 receiving yards last year with the Chicago Bears in 13 games. This season after nine games, Marshall has surpassed his 2014 production with 753 receiving yards and has seven more games left.
Texans: The Houston Texans have won two playoff games in the history of their franchise that began in 2002. The quarterback who was under center for their first playoff victory is once again under center this weekend against the Jets. T.J. Yates returns to Houston after Brian Hoyer was declared out for the Week 11 game.
Indianapolis Colts vs. Atlanta Falcons
Colts: Matt Hasselbeck resumes the controls of the Colts offense with Andrew Luck on the mend. This will mark the 204th start for Hasselbeck and he is currently 3-2 versus the Falcons.
Falcons: How the mighty have fallen – After scoring nine rushing touchdowns over a five game stretch, Atlanta running back Devonta Freeman has gone the last three games without scoring a rushing touchdown. His last game he had 12 carries for 12 yards.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Buccaneers: The Bucs are 4-5, and lurk in the shadows of the NFC wildcard hunt. Their offense ranks 14th overall in the NFL and surprisingly the defense ranks inside the Top 10 at seventh overall. A great opportunity presents itself to steal a victory in Philly with Sam Bradford out for the game.
Eagles: Is Mark Sanchez a better option? Sam Bradford came in during the off-season (via trade) and for one reason or another, never seemed comfortable with the offense. When he was accurate, his receivers dropped passes or ran the wrong routes and there were moments when he hung on the football too long and made ill advised throw. Sanchez knows the system and possibly could end up be a bit of a spark plug to an anemic Philly offense.
Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Diego Chargers
Chiefs: Jamaal Charles being hurt left little hope the Chiefs would be able to savage the season. Kansas City was 1-4 when Charles tore his ACL and since that time are 3-1 and using Charcandrick West as their featured back. He has not disappointed by scoring a rushing touchdown in each of the Chiefs last three games – All victories.
Chargers: Head coach Mike McCoy finished with 9-7 records in his first and second seasons in San Diego. The Chargers have already matched the seven losses and seven games remain on the schedule. McCoy might not get a fourth season.
Green Bay Packers vs. Minnesota Vikings
Packers: Wow, how the world has given up of Eddie Lacy. Lacy has battled through injuries throughout the 2015 season and his production has dropped significantly. He won ROY honors in 2013 has averaged 1,158 rushing yards and ten touchdowns from 2013-14. This year is just one to forget.
Vikings: The simplicity of the game is never more apparent than it is in Minnesota. The Vikings are proud owners of a 7-2 record and sit atop the NFC North division in first place. They are neither flashy nor flamboyant. Outside of Teddy Bridgewater and Adrian Peterson, it may be hard to find many folks to name a player on the roster.
San Francisco 49ers vs. Seattle Seahawks
49ers: This was once one of the best matchups in football. The two powerhouses of the NFC, San Francisco now looks to avoid another embarrassing season in the hostile environment in Seattle.
Seahawks: Where is a Legion of Boom? The Seattle defense held allowed four teams to score 27 or more points from 2013-14 in a single game. Including their Super Bowl where they allowed 28 points, the Seahawks have given up 27 or more points in six of their last ten games. Ouch!
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Arizona Cardinals
Bengals: The Bengals have lacked luster for a long time in the NFL. A sporadic season of success sprinkled in decades of bad football. Over the last four years and very likely this season (8-1), they will win ten or more games. Consider that they won ten or more games just nine times from 1968-2010.
Cardinals: This is tidbit would win you cash if brought it to the attention of an avid football fan and degenerate gambler. What team does Carson Palmer have a winning record with – Are you ready for the results. In Cincinnati he was 97-97, in Arizona 31-31 and with the Oakland Raiders 25-24.
Buffalo Bills vs. New England Patriots
Bills: LeSean McCoy has had back-to-back 100-yard rushing games. It marks the fourth time in his seven year career going over the century in consecutive games. He has never had three in a row, but the Bills should look to feed him to control the clock in New England.
Patriots: The AFC East trio of the Bills, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets have ramped up the competition against New England. The Patriots response is perfection at 9-0.
