Wade Phillips Changing Rams Defense To 3-4 Formation
Find out what Wade Phillips plans on doing with Rams defense.
To say Wade Phillips has been around the block a few times would be the understatement of the century. After being hired as the new Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator, this will be Phillips’ eighth different team where he’s asked to control the defense.
As Phillips looks to turn this Rams defense into one of the elite groups in the league, he’s starting by changing their base defense from a 4-3 to a 3-4. This is the same thing he did with the daunting Broncos defense when he came in for the 2015 campaign.
While it’s always tough to leave, Phillips is used to making changes.
“I’ve left several [teams],” Phillips said Friday regarding whether it was tough to leave Denver. “Sometimes I didn’t want to leave, sometimes it’s your choice, sometimes it’s somebody else’s choice. It’s a new challenge certainly, keeps me going. I love those guys there, but I’m gonna love these guys here too.”
This past season, the Rams ranked 23rd in points allowed per game (24.6).
