Vikings place Mauti on IR, sign Bykowski

The Minnesota Vikings placed linebacker Michael Mauti on injured reserve Wednesday.

Mauti appeared in nine games this season with four tackles. He was taken in the seventh round of the 2013 draft after having knee problems at Penn State.

The Vikings did not immediately disclose any injury he might have suffered in last Sunday’s game against the New York Jets.

To take his place on the 53-man roster, the Vikings signed tackle Carter Bykowski from the San Francisco 49ers’ practice squad.

Bykowski has spent the 2013 and 2014 seasons on San Francisco’s practice squad. He was a seventh-round pick by the 49ers in 2013.
