SANTA CLARA, Calif. — If there is such a thing as a vote of confidence three weeks into your first season, then San Francisco 49ers head coach Jim Tomsula believes he received one from team owner Jed York and general manager Trent Baalke after Sunday’s 47-7 loss at Arizona.

“I had conversations with both of them immediately after the game,” he reported. “They were, I mean, obviously, nobody’s pleased. They were very much encouraging. Quite frankly, ‘Hey, here we go. Keep your head up, keep grinding, let’s go.’

“I mean, that was the gist of both of those conversations. And, ‘Is there anything we can do to help you?'”

Interesting. History is rife with tales of coaches getting a so-called vote of confidence — just before they are fired.

Dissension hasn’t been a factor in the 49ers’ 1-2 start. But it might be moving forward.

The first crack in the ranks occurred Monday when backup cornerback Shareece Wright, signed as a free agent to be a potential starter in the offseason, reportedly told a reporter from the NFL Network that he wants out.

The veteran, who received a $1.5 million signing bonus on a one-year deal, reportedly has asked the 49ers for a trade or to be released.

Wright has not been active for any of the club’s first three games, having slipped to third string on the depth chart behind starters Tramaine Brock and Kenneth Acker, and backups Keith Reaser and Dontae Johnson.

Wright started 27 games for the San Diego Chargers the last two seasons.

–If the 49ers are 3-for-3 in any regard this season, it is in avoiding serious injuries in their games.

Tight end Vernon Davis suffered the most significant injury in Sunday’s loss at Arizona, leaving after hurting his knee.

But the 49ers labeled the injury just a strain Monday and Tomsula reported it “doesn’t seem to be too bad.”

Safety Eric Reid cut his face in the game and was stitched up at the stadium. He is not expected to miss practice time this week.

Low-lighting a few items from the Arizona game:

–Quarterback Colin Kaepernick threw two touchdown passes to the Arizona Cardinals and none to his own teammates. He passed for 67 yards in the worst outing of his career, quantified with an ugly 16.7 passer rating. His previous low of 20.1 was against Seattle in Week 2 of the 2013 season.

–Running back Carlos Hyde lost his league lead in rushing with a second consecutive lackluster effort at Arizona. Hyde was limited to 51 yards on 17 carries. His 262 yards ranked third in the league through Sunday’s games.

–Wide receiver Torrey Smith did not record a pass reception at Arizona and was one of the first 49ers pulled from the blowout as he was limited some in practice last week with a knee injury.
