Titans part with Pollard, claim Massaquoi

Published

on

The Tennessee Titans released veteran safety Bernard Pollard on Tuesday and picked up linebacker Jonathan Massaquoi off waivers.

After leading the Titans in tackles in 2013, the 30-year-old Pollard suffered an Achilles tendon injury that cut short his 2014 season after five games and 27 total tackles.

The hard-hitting and outspoken Pollard asked the Titans to grant his release to him a chance to land with a Super Bowl contender. He was due a $3.2 million base salary for 2015.

Pollard started his NFL career in Kansas City and also has played for the Houston Texans and the Baltimore Ravens.

Massaquoi was waived by the Atlanta Falcons after playing in 39 games in three seasons. He has 70 tackles, including six sacks and 11 tackles for loss, during his career.
