NFC East teams better beware because the New York Giants are coming at them with one of the most potent passing attacks in the NFL. The NFC East might be the worst division in the NFL when it comes to the secondary. The Cowboys are stuck with a bunch average cornerbacks with one safety with a lot of upside. The Redskins have Josh Norman, who is among the best cornerbacks, but the rest of their secondary can be picked up throughout games. The Philadelphia Eagles have Malcolm Jenkins, who is a very good safety, but they are devoid of any other talented players in their secondary.

Therefore, it should be open season for the Eli Manning and the Giants’ wide receiver corps.

Eli Manning is heading toward the twilight of his career, but he is still a very capable quarterback who can put up elite number through stretches of a season. When he gets the ball out quickly, he is one of the most accurate passers in the NFL. Furthermore, Manning will have the better set of receivers than he has ever had in the NFL, which could lead to a career year from the former No. 1 overall pick.

Manning’s No. 1 weapon will undoubtedly be Odell Beckham Jr., who is one of the three best wide receivers in the NFL. When he’s not making incredible one-handed catches and leaping grabs, he is running fantastic routes with great pacing and precision. Furthermore, Beckham is extremely talented after the catch. which makes him a threat to go to pay dirt anytime he touches the ball. Now, Beckham will have a healthy and worthy No. 2 receiver to take some of the pressure off him.

Another potent weapon Manning will potentially have at his disposal is Victor Cruz. While he has been injured the last two years, he is an extremely talented receiver when he has healthy. A lot of people point to Cruz’s athleticism as to why he was so productive when healthy, which is why they think he will never be the same with his injuries, but that ignores how astute of a route runner he is. If Cruz can stay healthy, he will be a great option and a legitimate No. 2 or 3 wide receiver for the Giants.

The next weapon Manning has at his disposal is the Dwayne Harris. The former Cowboys wide receiver isn’t the most nuanced route runner, but he is prolific after the catch. Harris is a versatile weapon who can be used on reverses, bubble screens and short in-breaking routes. While he is never going to be an option you can consistently rely upon, he is a great chess piece to have in your back pocket.

The last weapon Manning has in his disposal, and the reason why the Giants receiver corps are improved and among the best in the NFL, is Sterling Shepard. The former Oklahoma receiver is a big-time talent who will make a seamless transistion to the NFL. In fact, Giants defensive coordinator Steve Spagnulo stated, “I was looking at tape the other day and we had a receiver doing some things against us and I told the staff we have to do a better job there against Odell (Beckham, Jr.). And then I looked again and it was not Odell -€” it was actually Shepard.” While Shepard may never be Beckham, he has the ability to be a No. 1-type of receiver at the No. 2 slot. He is a great athlete who runs smooth routes and catches the ball with soft hands. Expect Shepard to hit the ground running in his rookie year.

Overall, the Giants passing attack has the ability to be one of, if not, the best in the NFL this year.
