Texas Southern CB Tray Walker Has Four Visits with NFL teams
NFL Super Regional Combine invitee Texas Southern CB Tray Walker is getting a super reaction from NFL teams with several up-coming visits scheduled
Texas Southern defensive back Tray Walker (6-foot-3, 203 pounds) is going to be racking up frequent flyer miles in the up-coming months. FootballInsiders.com has learned that Walker has visits with the Oakland Raiders, Green Bay Packers, Atlanta Falcons and Denver Broncos.
The Falcons are particularly interesting due to new head coach Dan Quinn and his familiarity with big, strong and relatively unknown NFL Draft prospects playing in the secondary. Quinn was the Seattle Seahawks defensive coordinator prior to being hired in Atlanta. The Seattle roster featured several small-school gems and Walker is poised to be that next diamond in the rough type prospect.
The Super Regional Combine (March 21-22) in Phoenix, helped solidify Walker as a legit prospect and hearing his name called as early as the fifth-round is not out of the question. It is also the same round that Richard Sherman was drafted in, the guy Walker most resembles most due to his size and physicality. Walker is able to direct receivers with his strength and has the speed to stay stride-for-stride on deep routes. He possesses exceptional length with long arms (33 5/8”) and an impressive frame built for the NFL. The Miami native finished with 41 tackles, 1.5 tackles-for-loss, and three inceptions as a senior.
