Texas DT Brown entering draft

Published

on

Texas junior defensive tackle Malcom Brown will ride his breakout season all the way to the 2015 NFL Draft.

Brown informed head coach Charlie Strong on Thursday that he will give up his senior season of eligibility to turn pro.

Brown is projected as a first-round pick by NFLDraftScout.com, which rates the 320-pound junior as the No. 4 defensive tackle and 25th-best prospect overall.

He is still developing physically but offers some scheme versatility to play a traditional defensive tackle position or adapt to a 3-4 defense. Evaluators might appreciate that Brown is married with two kids, which to some is a sign of maturity and accountability in prospects.

Brown ranked tied for third on the team in pass breakups (5), third in tackles for loss (12) and third in QB pressures (6).
