Texans extend LS Weeks through 2019

The Houston Texans signed veteran long snapper Jon Weeks to a four-year, $3.9 million contract extension through the 2019 season.

The deal includes $330,000 guaranteed in the form of a $250,000 signing bonus and $80,000 guaranteed of his base salary for 2016, according to the Houston Chronicle.

Weeks, who is entering his sixth season, will have base salaries are $825,000 for 2016, $825,000 for 2016, $900,000 for 2017, $915,000 for 2018 and $930,000 for 2019.

Weeks has never missed a game, playing in 80 consecutive career games since joining the Texans in 2010.

Weeks took to Twitter on Sunday night to thank owner Bob McNair and the coaches.

“Beyond excited to continue my career here in Houston! Thank you to the McNairs & coaching staff. Let’s get to work! #houstontexans #Week1.”

The Texans open the season at home on Sunday against the Kansas City Chiefs.
