Texans’ Clowney targets return vs. Steelers
Houston outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney was back on the practice field on Friday and Texans’ coach Bill O’Brien said there is a “50-50” chance the No. 1 overall pick in the draft will play Monday night against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
On Thursday, O’Brien said he had “no updates” concerning Clowney, who did not practice. After Friday’s practice, O’Brien said Clowney would be a game-time decision.
“If he were to play against Pittsburgh, it certainly wouldn’t be for 70 plays,” O’Brien said. “It would be for a certain amount of plays.”
Clowney had knee surgery after getting injured in a Week 1 win over Washington. He has pointed to his return on “Monday Night Football.”
“I would like that,” Clowney told the Houston Chronicle earlier this week when talking about returning for the Monday night game. “I’m still in the healing process.
“I’ll come back fired up. I want to hit somebody. I haven’t hit anybody in a long time. I’m looking forward to that. I’m just going to try to get after the quarterback and do my job.”
