Texans Bring In Wes Welker As Coaching Assistant
Find out where Wes Welker is coaching at now.
One of the best slot receivers in recent memory will now be on the sidelines for the Houston Texans. Wes Welker agreed to become the Texans offensive/special teams assistant coach.
Previously, Welker was a guest coach for the Ravens and Dolphins in their organized team activities. Although Whitney Mercilus is on the defensive side of the ball, he’s excited to see what Welker has in store.
“That’s a huge pickup, I think,” Mercilus said. “Just have to his knowledge on the team, just to have somebody who played the game for so long, just to be able to teach the guys exactly what he saw out there so that they can pretty much mimic exactly their skill set as they play out on the field.”
Welker finished his 12-year career with 903 catches for 9,924 yards to go along with 50 touchdowns.
