Tebow works out for Eagles
The Philadelphia Eagles worked out quarterback Tim Tebow, who last played in the NFL in 2012, on Monday.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter first reported the news, and the Eagles later confirmed the workout to the Philadelphia Daily News.
Tebow has been an analyst for the SEC Network. He last played for the New York Jets in 2012 after playing two seasons with the Denver Broncos.
Tebow, 27, appeared in 12 games (two starts) with the Jets as Mark Sanchez’s backup. He completed 6 of 8 passes for 39 yards, and rushed 32 times for 102 yards. Sanchez is now with the Eagles.
After a Heisman-winning college career that included two national championships at Florida, Tebow completed 47.9 percent (173 of 361) of his passes for 2,422 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions while rushing for 989 yards and 12 scores in the NFL.
Tebow was selected by the Broncos in the first round of the 2010 draft. He saw extensive action in 2011, leading the Broncos to the playoffs. He threw 12 touchdown passes and rushed for six more but completed just 46.5 percent of his passes.
Tebow, who continues to say he has never given up in his pursuit to play again in the NFL, was in training camp with the New England Patriots in August 2013.
Tebow had been considered a possible participant for the first NFL Veteran Combine on March 22, but he was not on the list of participants announced last week.
Tebow reportedly has been working with independent quarterbacks coach Tom House, who tutors New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady, and had shown improved accuracy.
