Tebow returns to SEC Network
The Sports Xchange
After a failed bid to make the Philadelphia Eagles as a reserve quarterback, Tim Tebow was rehired as a TV studio analyst for the SEC Network.
ESPN, which owns the SEC Network, announced Wednesday that Tebow will be part of the pregame show “SEC Nation.”
“Tim quickly developed into an excellent analyst last year, and we were not shy about acknowledging his home at ESPN should he be available to return,” ESPN executive vice president John Wildhack said in a statement.
Tebow appeared to win the competition for the Eagles’ No. 3 quarterback job behind starter Sam Bradford and backup Mark Sanchez when Matt Barkley was traded to the Arizona Cardinals on Friday. However, the Eagles released Tebow on Saturday when they reduced their roster to 53 players.
“We felt Tim has progressed, but we didn’t feel he was good enough to be the (No.) 3 right now,” Philadelphia coach Chip Kelly said.
Tebow won the 2007 Heisman Trophy for the University of Florida, and he helped the Gators win national titles in 2007 and 2009.
A first-round draft pick of the Broncos in 2010, Tebow led Denver to an 8-6 record in 14 starts in 2010 and 2011. He spent 2012 as a reserve with the New York Jets, his last regular-season NFL action.
