Suspended W.Va. cornerback arraigned on battery charge
West Virginia cornerback Daryl Worley, who has been suspended for Saturday’s showdown with Oklahoma, turned himself into authorities after a warrant was issued for his arrest in connection with an alleged assault at a nightclub.
Worley was arraigned on a battery charge late Wednesday afternoon and released on a $10,000 personal recognizance bond. A battery conviction in West Virginia is punishable by up to one year in jail and a $500 fine.
Morgantown, W.Va., police reportedly have surveillance footage that shows Worley involved in an altercation with a woman outside a nightclub early Sunday morning. Worley allegedly put his hands around the woman’s throat and pushed her down, according to police reports.
In three games this season, Worley, a sophomore, has two interceptions and has made 17 tackles.
