Steelers place Keisel on IR

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed defensive end Brett Keisel on injured reserve Monday and signed defensive end Clifton Geathers to replace him.

Keisel, 36, suffered a torn triceps during the Steelers’ 35-32 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday.

Keisel finished the season with 17 tackles, a sack and an interception.

Geathers, a sixth-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in 2010, has had short stints with the Indianapolis Colts (eight games in 2012), Philadelphia Eagles (16 games in 2013) and Washington Redskins (six games this season). The Redskins released him Nov. 1.
