Steelers’ Beachum out for year with torn ACL
The Sports Xchange
Left tackle Kelvin Beachum sustained a season-ending torn anterior cruciate ligament Sunday in Pittsburgh’s 25-13 win over the Arizona Cardinals, Steelers coach Mike Tomlin announced.
Second-year pro Alejandro Villanueva finished Sunday’s game in place of Beachum, the Steelers’ starter on the left side since 2013.
A seventh-round pick in 2012, Beachum, 26, will be a free agent after the season.
The banged up Pittsburgh offensive line is also without all-pro center Maurkice Pouncey, whose left fibula injury needed a second surgery that may lead to him missing the rest of the season as well.
