Saints aiming to add elite speed to offense with possible addition of Miami Hurricanes WR Phillip Dorsett

Published

on

Per an NFL source, the New Orleans Saints are eyeing Miami Hurricanes speedy receiver Phillip Dorsett with their first selection (13th overall) in the 2015 NFL Draft.

The Saints’ offense is in transition as they move on from the Jimmy Graham era. Last year the team selected Oregon State receiver and vertical threat Brandin Cooks in the first round. Pairing Cooks and Dorsett along with newly acquired C.J. Spiller via free agency from the Buffalo Bills really appears to add another dimension to the Saints arsenal.

Dorsett ran in the 4.3s at the NFL Scouting Combine and elected to run another 40-yard dash at his Pro Day in which he recorded a blazing 4.25 in front of NFL Scouts. With the emergence of the Pittsburgh Steelers Antonio Brown and New York Giants Odell Beckham, a player like Dorsett is being viewed as a prospect that can duplicate their production in the NFL.

Armed with five picks in the top 78 overall, New Orleans can be a major player on Thursday. New Orleans can grab Dorsett and still remain a major threat to opposing teams seeking the same player. With a stockpile of picks the Saints can move up and leapfrog another team and still have a bounty of picks remaining.
