‘Skins QB Griffin leaves game injured
The Sports Xchange
Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III left Thursday night’s preseason game against the Detroit Lions with a stinger and a possible head injury.
Griffin took some big shots early in the game and went down in the second quarter. He stayed on the ground for three minutes, attended to by a trainer, after a host of Lions landed on him after he fumbled.
Griffin was under heavy pressure all night and was sacked three times and fumbled twice, losing one. He completed 2 or 5 passes for eight yards
The team said Griffin is out for the game. He walked off the field slowly under his own power and went to the locker room.
Backup quarterback Colt McCoy came into the game to replace Griffin.
Griffin has a history of injuries during his three-year NFL career, including a torn ACL and LCL suffered in the playoffs during the 2012 season and a dislocated ankle last September.
