SEC has seven teams in top 15
The SEC hit a new high by having an unprecedented seven teams ranked in the top 15 of the latest Associated Press top 25 poll on Sunday.
No. 1 Florida State and No. 2 Oregon stayed on top of the poll. The Seminoles received 37 first-place votes while the Ducks got 17.
Among SEC teams, Alabama is No. 3 and received one first-place vote. Auburn is fifth, Texas A&M is sixth and received three first-place votes, LSU is eighth and Ole Miss is 10th.
South Carolina’s win over Georgia resulted in the Gamecocks moving up 10 spots to No. 14. Georgia fell to No. 13.
One other SEC team, Missouri, is No. 18 to give the conference eight teams ranked in the top 25.
No. 4 Oklahoma, No. 7 Baylor and No. 9 Notre Dame made up the rest of the top 10.
Virginia Tech and Louisville fell out of the poll and were replaced by No. 24 Nebraska and No. 25 Oklahoma State.
