Seahawks waive OL Schwenke, sign Farmer
The Sports Xchange
The Seattle Seahawks waived injured offensive lineman Kona Schwenke on Saturday and signed George Farmer, who is expected to convert from wide receiver to defensive back.
Schwenke suffered a knee injury Friday against the Kansas City Chiefs, and the Seahawks are expected to place the third-string rookie on injured reserve if he clears waivers.
Farmer, who entered the draft early this year despite a disappointing career at USC, was relased by the Dallas Cowboys last weekend.
The Seahawks also were hosting free-agent guard Evan Mathis on Saturday. Coach Pete Carroll confirmed reports that Mathis would visit Seattle. Carroll said he was coming in for a physical.
