Seahawks’ Sherman ‘ecstatic’ over son’t birth

Seattle Seahawks All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman’s girlfriend, Ashley Moss, gave birth to the couple’s first child Thursday morning.

The couple’s son arrived four days after the Seahawks’ disappointing loss in Super Bowl XLIX, and Sherman’s status for the game had Moss gone into labor early had been a question leading up to the game.

Sherman joked on the Thursday before the game that he expected his son “to be a disciplined young man and stay in there a while longer.”

On Thursday, Sherman tweeted that he was “ecstatic” over the birth of his son, whose name is Rayden, according to Peter King of MMQB.com.

“My son sure does know how to make an entrance! 2/5/15… Is it a coincidence or is he just that clever?! Either way I’m ecstatic,” wrote Sherman, whose jersey number is 25.

In addition to the Super Bowl loss, it has also been reported that Sherman may need Tommy John surgery on the left elbow he injured during the NFC Championship Game. But the focus is now on Rayden, with his teammates offering their congratulations.

“@RSherman_25 so happy for you bud!!!,” Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson tweeted. “You are going to be an amazing dad! Love you bro! Let me make if u need me to babysit!”

Wide receiver Doug Baldwin tweeted: “The family gets bigger! Congrats to my brotha @RSherman_25. God is good!”

He later added: “And shout out @Ms_Moss22 cause she did all the work. Lol”
