The Seattle Seahawks are not expected to pick up the fifth-year option on outside linebacker Bruce Irvin’s rookie contract.

The team has until Sunday to exercise the 2016 option. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reported the option would have resulted in a $7.751 million salary.

Irvin, a first-round draft pick in 2012, will make $1.6 million this season.

NBC Sports reported that Irvin could be traded to the Atlanta Falcons sometime during the NFL Draft, which starts Thursday night.

Irvin, 27, is from Atlanta and the Falcons need an edge pass rusher. If the trade takes place, Irvin would be reunited with new Falcons coach Dan Quinn, who was the defensive coordinator with the Seahawks last season.

In 2014, Irvin made 37 tackles, 6.5 sacks and two interceptions returned for touchdowns.
