Seahawks’ Lynch loses appeal

Published

on

The NFL on Thursday rejected an appeal by Seattle Seahawks running back Marshawn Lynch challenging a $100,000 fine from earlier this season for his failure to talk with the media.

Lynch received several warnings from the league office about not speaking with reporters before the fine — $50,000 for this season and $50,000 for last season — was handed down on Nov. 19.

After a Nov. 23 game against the Arizona Cardinals, Lynch answered questions with a one-word response. Then, after the Seahawks’ regular-season finale, he responded to each question by asking, “Why do y’all keep doing this?”

“@MoneyLynch will keep speaking the truth on the field….old school, throwback, warrior, best in league. 100k for not talking…joke…,” Lynch’s agent, Doug Hendrickson, said Thursday on Twitter.

In addition, Lynch was fined $11,050 by the NFL for his obscene gesture after his 79-yard touchdown run at Arizona against the Cardinals on Dec. 21.
