Seahawks’ Lockette leaves game on stretcher
The Sports Xchange
ARLINGTON, Texas — The first half of Sunday’s game between the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks ended with a scary moment for both sides, as Seahawks receiver Ricardo Lockette was injured on punt coverage and had to be taken off the field strapped to a stretcher.
It was announced early in the third quarter that Lockette had a concussion and full movement in his body, but it initially seemed the injury might be more serious.
Dallas safety Jeff Heath’s vicious hit laid out Lockette, who was a gunner on the Seattle punt. Lockette was quickly attended to by medical personnel as players and coaches from both sides gathered around him near midfield.
After several minutes, Lockette’s face mask was removed from his helmet and he was immobilized on a stretcher. He was eventually lifted and taken off the field by a cart.
Lockette’s hands were moving and he pointed his index to the sky to cheers from the crowd. The injury happened with 12 seconds left in the half. Seattle took a 10-6 lead into the locker room.
