Sherman Speaks Out Against Thursday Night Football
There aren’t all that many subjects that you can find absolute agreement upon with NFL players, but Thursday Night Football seems to be on that short list.
The usually outspoken Stanford graduate, All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman shared his thoughts as his Seattle Seahawks get ready to take on the Los Angeles Rams.
“Poopfest. It’s terrible,” Sherman said about playing on Thursday nights. “We got home like 1 o’clock in the morning, something like that on Monday and then you’ve got to play again. Congratulations, NFL, you did it again. But they’ve been doing it all season, so I guess we’re the last ones to get the middle finger.”
Sherman feels that playing on Thursday following a Sunday game is hypocritical for a league that claims to be focused on player safety.
“Because it’s just no regard,” Sherman said. “It’s hypocritical, as I’ve stated before. They make this huge stance about player safety. Then you put the players in tremendous danger.
“We’ll be well-aware come the next CBA negotiations about things like this. There’s really not much you can do right now. It’s part of the revenue, etc., etc. And the league probably has something else up their sleeve. They might have a Friday night game planned. Who knows?”
Like it or not, Sherman will have to suit up to take on a terrible Rams team that is the only team to actually has a winning record against them in the Russell Wilson era.
