Saints TE Charles suspended for opener
The Sports Xchange
New Orleans tight end Orson Charles has been suspended without pay for the first game of the season for violating the NFL’s conduct policy.
Charles will be eligible to return after the Saints’ opener against the Arizona Cardinals.
Charles, then a member of the Cincinnati Bengals, was arrested in April 2014 after allegedly pointing a gun at a driver who made an obscene gesture at him. He was sentenced to diversion in February after pleading guilty to wanton endangerment.
The Bengals released Charles last August and he spent the season on the Saints’ practice squad.
