Saints LB Galette charged with domestic violence
New Orleans Saints linebacker Junior Galette was charged with domestic violence after a dispute with a woman at his home in Kenner, La., on Monday.
Galette described the woman to police as a “dancer,” but the Kenner Police Department said the unnamed alleged victim told authorities she was a girlfriend and personal assistant to Galette.
The NFL established clear, firm guidelines for discipline in domestic incidents that result in a six-game suspension for first-time offenders.
Galette’s cousin, Terrance Banks, was also taken into custody and charged with simple battery according to Kenner Police.
Police arrived at Galette’s home at 8:26 a.m. and said the woman was in front of the house. Galette reportedly told police the woman refused to leave his property without cab fare.
Galette, 26, signed a $41 million contract extension in September. He joined the team as an undrafted free agent. His contract includes $23 million guaranteed.
The 26-year-old played college football at Stillman College in Tuscaloosa, Ala. He was born in Haiti. He transferred to Stillman from Temple, where he was charged with theft of laptop computers in an incident that also involved his cousin.
