Texans’ Clowney expects to play Sunday
Houston Texans rookie outside linebacker Jadeveon Clowney reportedly said he expects to play in Sunday’s game against the Cleveland Browns, albeit in a limited capacity.
Clowney, the No. 1 overall pick in this year’s NFL Draft, has played in only two games this season, recording a total of two tackles. He missed last week’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles because of a knee injury and illness.
“My knee feels good,” he said, according to the Houston Chronicle. “Having the time off really helped. It’s still not 100 percent, but it’s a lot better.”
Two weeks ago, in his first game back after suffering a knee injury in the opener, Clowney played 32 of 61 snaps in the victory over the Tennessee Titans. He played mostly on third down and in passing situations, and probably will be used in a similar fashion this week.
Texans linebacker Brian Cushing also is expected to return after missing two games with a knee injury.
