Reports: WR Jones rejoins Packers
The Sports Xchange
One day after his contract was terminated by the New York Giants, wide receiver James Jones agreed to a one-year deal with the Green Bay Packers, multiple media outlets reported Sunday.
The Packers’ receiving corps was short-handed due to the season-ending loss of Jordy Nelson to a knee injury.
Jones, 31, spent his first seven NFL seasons with the Packers after Green Bay made him a third-round pick in the 2007 draft. He made 104 appearances for the Packers, including 47 starts.
Last year, Jones appeared in 16 games and made 10 starts for the Oakland Raiders. He finished with 73 catches for 666 yards and six touchdowns.
Jones has 383 catches for 4,971 yards and 43 touchdowns in his eight-year pro career. He recorded career highs in receptions (64) and touchdowns (14) for Green Bay in 2012.
In four preseason games with the Giants, Jones made 15 receptions for 187 yards.
