Reports: Seahawks’ Wilson set for spring training
Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, fresh off a disappointing Super Bowl loss, is headed for spring training.
According to multiple media reports, Wilson will participate in the Texas Rangers’ spring camp in Surprise, Ariz., for the second year in a row.
An infielder for North Carolina State in his early college days, Wilson was the Rockies’ fourth-round draft pick in 2010, and he spent parts of two seasons in the Colorado farm system before finding stardom in the NFL.
Wilson hit a combined .229 with a .354 on-base percentage, a .356 slugging percentage, five home runs, 26 RBIs and 19 stolen bases in a combined 93 games in the low minors in 2010 and 2011.
The Rangers acquired Wilson in the Rule 5 draft in December 2013, and he spent last year on Texas’ minor league reserve list.
Wilson participated in uniform for one day with the Rangers last March.
