Reports: Ravens sign Babin to replace injured Suggs
The Sports Xchange
Seeking a replacement for injured veteran Terrell Suggs, the Baltimore Ravens signed another pass-rushing linebacker, Jason Babin, multiple media outlets reported Tuesday.
According to ESPN.com, Babin will make the veteran’s minimum.
Babin, a two-time Pro Bowler, was released by the New York Jets on Sept. 5. He played all 16 regular-season games last year for the Jets, starting four times and making two sacks.
Babin, 35, was a 2004 first-round pick of the Texans. He started every game for Houston his rookie year, a feat he managed just two other times in his 13 NFL seasons.
After three seasons with the Texans, Babin played for the Seattle Seahawks, Kansas City Chiefs, Philadelphia Eagles, Tennessee Titans, Philadelphia again and then the Jacksonville Jaguars before spending 2014 with the Jets.
He recorded a career-high 18 sacks for the Eagles in 2011, and he has 64.5 sacks overall.
Suggs, 32, tore his left Achilles tendon Sunday against the Denver Broncos, ending his season.
