Reports: Colts’ Bradshaw suffers broken ankle
Indianapolis Colts running back Ahmad Bradshaw suffered what appears to be a broken ankle against the New England Patriots on Sunday night, according to multiple reports.
The team said Bradshaw suffered the injury in the fourth quarter of the 42-20 loss and was taken for X-rays. Further testing was scheduled Monday with an MRI planned.
Initial results Sunday night indicated a fracture, The Indianapolis Star and ESPN reported.
Bradshaw left the stadium in a boot on his left foot and on crutches after gaining 4 yards on seven carries. He also caught four passes for 7 yards.
Bradshaw is the team’s leading rusher with 425 yards. He has eight touchdowns this season (two rushing, six receiving).
Bradshaw left the locker without commenting, but the severity of his injury was noticed by teammates.
“To see a brother go down, especially one I’m around all day, every day, is real tough,” fellow running back Trent Richardson said. “That’s a brother, and it’s heartbreaking to see a guy down like that. We’re going to see what they say (Monday), but at the end of the day, we have his back.
“Whenever he gets ready to come back, if he does this year or next year, whenever it is, there’s going to be open doors for him.”
Also on the injury front, tight end Dwayne Allen left Sunday night’s game in the first half due to a sprained ankle. He was to undergo an MRI exam Monday. He did not have a pass thrown his way.
