Reports: Bills-Jets game may be moved
This weekend’s game between the Buffalo Bills and New York Jets may not be played on Sunday in Buffalo as scheduled, and the game could be moved to Detroit, New Jersey, Pittsburgh or Washington, according to various reports.
Those reports came after New York governor Andrew Cuomo, stranded in Western New York by nearly six feet of snow in the Buffalo region, said he does not expect Ralph Wilson Stadium to be playable for Sunday’s game.
“If you ask me today, right now … my two cents would be it would impractical to do the game,” Cuomo said Thursday, as snow continued to stack up in the region with another day of accumulation ahead.
The NFL has a Friday deadline for determining when to play the game. The league said it is monitoring the situation but Cuomo asked residents to resist the urge to leave their homes and abide by a driving ban that will not likely be lifted until Friday at the earliest.
If the game cannot be played in Buffalo, CBSSports.com reports the game could be moved to Detroit or to the Jets’ home stadium in New Jersey.
Meanwhile, ESPN.com reported Pittsburgh and Washington also are places the game could be played.
If the game is moved, it could be played any time between Sunday and Tuesday, according to ProFootballtalk.com.
The Bills have been unable to practice Wednesday and Thursday.
