Report: Teddy Bridgewater Hurts Knee In Practice

What are the Vikings options if Teddy Bridgewater misses significant time?

Published

on

The Minnesota Vikings are currently suffering though a scare as quarterback Teddy Bridgewater went down in practice, clutching his knee.

It is being reported as a non-contact injury, which tend to be some of the most damaging.  At this point we are unaware of the severity of the injury, only that practice was stopped and some players were both swearing and praying.

If Bridgewater were to miss a significant amount of time, Shaun Hill is the team’s backup.  The 36-year old has played for five different franchises through his 10-year career.  The last time he played in multiple games was in 2014 with the St. Louis Rams when former No. 1 overall pick Sam Bradford went down for the season with a knee injury.  Hill completed 63.3 percent of his throws with eight touchdowns and seven interceptions while helping the team to a 3-5 record.

Hill’s job would be much easier in Minnesota as he has “Purple Jesus,” Adrian Peterson to hand the ball off to as well as a great defense to back him up.  He would simply be asked to not do too much and not “screw up” the game.

The only other quarterback on the Vikings roster is undrafted rookie Joel Stave from Wisconsin.  If Bridgewater’s injury is indeed serious, Minnesota could look to trade for a Mark Sanchez or scour the waiver wire later in the week.
