Report: Season could be over for Raiders’ Woodley

Published

on

Oakland Raiders defensive end LaMarr Woodley has a torn biceps that is believed to be a season-ending injury, according to a report Wednesday night.

Woodley suffered a biceps tear during Sunday’s loss to the Arizona Cardinals, NFL.com reported. Raiders coach Tony Sparano said earlier in the day that Woodley possibly had a “serious” injury.

In six games this season, Woodley had made little impact for the Raiders, producing just five tackles and no sacks.

Benson Mayowa, an undrafted free agent, is listed on the depth chart as the backup to Woodley.

The 29-year-old Woodley signed a two-year, $12 million deal with the Raiders in March after he was let go by the Pittsburgh Steelers. His production had declined the past few years, going from 13 1/2 sacks in 2009 to five last yaer.
