Report: Saints hire new RBs coach

Published

on

The New Orleans Saints already have a running backs coach but SI.com reported the team has hired Joel Thomas from the University of Arkansas to be the Saints’ new running backs coach.

Arkansas ranked 24th in the country in rushing offense in 2014, while averaging 5.1 yards per carry.

The Saints have not announced the hiring of Thomas, who is Arkansas’ running backs coach, so it remains to be seen what will happen with current Saints running backs coach Dan Roushar.

It has been speculated that Roushar might become the Saints’ tight ends coach. Roushar coached tight ends at Michigan State, and multiple reports suggest current Saints tight ends coach Terry Malone will part ways with the team.

Saints wide receivers coach Henry Ellard also may be gone before long, according to reports.
