Report: Redskins to hire Barry as DC
The Washington Redskins plan to hire San Diego Chargers linebackers coach Jon Barry as their defensive coordinator, NFL Network reported Wednesday.
Barry would replace Jim Haslett, who parted ways with the Redskins after five seasons. In 2014, the Redskins ranked 20th in total yards and 29th in points allowed.
Barry, 44, has spent the last four seasons with the Chargers after stints with USC and the Tampa Buccaneers, all as linebackers coach. He also was the defensive coordinator for the Detroit Lions in 2007 and 2008.
The Redskins reportedly interviewed defensive backs coach Raheem Morris and San Francisco 49ers assistant coach Eric Mangini for the position.
