The New England Patriots plan to waive cornerback Alfonzo Dennard, according to multiple reports.

Dennard, 25, was a seventh-round pick in 2012 who has appeared in 29 regular-season games over the past three seasons. He has seven career interceptions, including playoffs, but finished last season on injured reserve after seeing decreased playing time.

The team is parting ways with Dennard despite losing starting cornerbacks Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner in free agency. The Patriots did add veterans Bradley Fletcher, Chimdi Chekwa and Robert McClain to a depth chart that includes Kyle Arrington, Malcolm Butler and Logan Ryan. New England waited until the seventh round of the NFL Draft before adding cornerbacks Darryl Roberts and Xzavier Dickson.

Dennard slid down draft boards in 2012 after being arrested on a felony assault charge against a police officer in an incident outside of a Lincoln, Nebraska bar. He then violated his probation by being arrested for driving under the influence in 2013, and served 35 of a possible 60 days in a Nebraska detention center last year.
