Green Bay Packers right tackle Bryan Bulaga is expected to miss four to six weeks with a torn meniscus in his left knee.

The sixth-year player underwent surgery Saturday, according to NFL Media reports. Bulaga, who also has a sprained MCL, is expected to have to sit out up to six weeks.

Bulaga departed Thursday’s practice after hurting the knee. The team initially feared that Bulaga had torn his ACL.

On Friday, coach Mike McCarthy ruled Bulaga out of the Packers’ home game against the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night. McCarthy said Bulaga was still being evaluated.

Bulaga suffered a knee sprain last year in the season opener, and he returned after missing one game. He missed all of 2013 with an ACL tear and underwent reconstructive surgery.

Bulaga, who received a five-year, $33.75 million deal from the Packers in the offseason, typically wears a brace to protect the knee.

McCarthy did not announce a starter at right tackle for the game against Seattle, but it is expected to be either Don Barclay or Josh Walker. Barclay made 18 starts in 2012 and 2013 before missing last season with a torn ACL.
