Report: Mosley suspended for marijuana use
The Detroit Lions sent defensive tackle C.J. Mosley home from London and suspended him two weeks because he was smoking marijuana, ESPN reported.
The Lions only said a week ago that Mosley was being disciplined for violating team rules.
According to the report, a disconnected smoke alarm at the team’s London hotel went off the night before the Lions game against the Atlanta Falcons at Wembley Stadium.
The alarm alerted the hotel’s security staff to check Mosley’s room. He was found with marijuana, which led to the team disciplining him.
The Lions did not comment on ESPN’s report.
Mosley and the NFLPA have filed a grievance to contest the suspension and fine.
Coach Jim Caldwell never clarified if the ban was two weeks or two games. If it is exactly two weeks, then Mosley is eligible to return in time for next Sunday’s game against the Miami Dolphins. That means he would only miss a game since the Lions are on a bye this week.
