Report: Jets QB Geno Smith May Be Able To Play Week 1
Jets’ quarterback Geno Smith might be back in action for the season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
After suffering a dislocated jaw from his altercation with former teammate, now rival IK Enemkpali, New York Jets quarterback Geno Smith may be able to get back on the field much quicker than the original 6-10 week timeline would suggest.
According to Dr. David Chao, former NFL head team physician, Smith’s jaw was not wired shut.
From Chao’s Twitter account. https://twitter.com/ProFootballDoc
“GENO SMITH @nyjets likely with tension bands to support jaw even though not wired shut. Can eat softer foods. Will beat 6-10 weeks return.
“Do not anticipate problems with cadence, snap count or changing plays at line of scrimmage for GENO SMITH @nyjets by week 1.”
This would be great news for the Jets, as they need to find out exactly what they have in their former second-round pick so they can make a decision on their future at the position.
