Report: Houston WR Greenberry to enter draft
Houston Cougars wide receiver Deontay Greenberry has signed with an agent and will enter the 2015 NFL Draft, according to Tony Pauline.
The junior finished with 841 yards and six touchdowns in 2014 after posting 1,202-11 the previous season, when he lined up primarily as an inside receiver. Greenberry (6-feet-3, 198 pounds), is the No. 11-rated junior wide receiver in the country by NFLDraftScout.com.
His numbers dipped due to inconsistent quarterback play this season, but Greenberry did catch two touchdowns and a key two-point conversion in Houston’s 35-34 victory over Pittsburgh in the Armed Forces Bowl, a game in which the Cougars trailed 31-6.
NFLDraftScout.com analyst Dane Brugler said Greenberry has been very effective as a slot receiver and displays playmaking ability after the catch, but he too often allows defenders to dictate his path and needs to show more intensity as a blocker.
