Report: Hackett will coach Jaguars’ QBs

Published

on

Nathaniel Hackett, who was the Buffalo Bills’ offensive coordinator for the past two seasons under Doug Marrone, reportedly will rejoin Marrone in Jacksonville.

Hackett, who also was being pursued by the St. Louis Rams for their offensive coordinator job, will be Jaguars coach Gus Bradley’s quarterbacks coach, according to Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Hackett — the 35-year-old son of longtime NFL assistant Paul Hackett — spent three seasons at Stanford (2003-05) before heading to the NFL as an offensive quality control coach for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2006-07) and Bills (2008-09).

Hackett joined Marrone at Syracuse in 2010, coaching quarterbacks and tight ends, and was elevated to offensive coordinator in 2011. He then followed Marrone to Buffalo in 2013.

Marrone opted out of his contract earlier this month and ended up as the Jaguars’ assistant head coach and offensive line coach.

Hackett, who worked with former first-round quarterback EJ Manuel in Buffalo, will get another first-round passer to work with in Jacksonville: 2014 rookie Blake Bortles.
