Report: Bucs listening to offers for Martin
If The Tampa Bay Buccaneers make a trade by Tuesday’s deadline, they are most likely to deal running back Doug Martin, according to ESPN.
Wide receiver Vincent Jackson has been widely speculated as a player Tampa Bay would move, but sources told ESPN that Martin is actually a more likely candidate to be dealt.
Teams have reportedly contacted the Bucs about acquiring Martin, and they are listening to offers. However, it could be a tough trade to make.
Martin, 25, is a former first-round pick who can help Tampa Bay this season. The team could wait until after the season and still receive similar compensation.
However, the Bucs are open to trading Martin because rookie third-round draft pick Charles Sims is eligible to come off injured reserved.
Martin is only averaging 2.9 yards per carry this season with 139 yards and a touchdown. He rushed for 1,454 with 11 TDs as a rookie in 2012 but played just six games last season because of injuries. He was limited to 456 rushing yards and one touchdown.
